Violent imagery now dominates many television programmes and films, raising concern about the impact of this content on society. In particular, while media violence does not act alone, its saturation contributes to harmful behaviour among children and adolescents. On the whole, in my opinion, the normalisation of aggression is a key social problem that regulation and media literacy can address.

Moreover, repeated exposure to violent television and film can normalise aggression, particularly among young viewers who lack strong critical filters. For instance, when heroes on screen settle conflict through violence, an aggressive response appears acceptable to an impressionable audience. Furthermore, in schools this violent content may translate into crime, bullying, or reduced empathy as constant exposure dulls emotional sensitivity. Indeed, the cumulative impact of such programming shapes the behaviour and attitudes of adolescents more than a single film ever could.

Consequently, to address this social problem, clearer content classification and watershed enforcement can limit exposure without heavy censorship. In addition, media literacy education teaches an audience to question the violence and consequences shown in each television show or movie. Admittedly, guided discussion can help adolescents distinguish fiction from acceptable conduct and recognise the real costs of crime and harm.

In conclusion, the saturation of violent media risks shaping social norms by eroding empathy and validating aggression among viewers. Ultimately, through targeted regulation and sustained media education, society can reduce the harmful impact of violent content while preserving creative freedom.
