Practice Reading: Multiple Choice, Single Answer ID: #38301 The citizens
Instructions
Pakistan is facing the problem of over-population. An international report on the matter mentions that Pakistan’s population of 105 million people would become 160 million by the year 2016, as a net increase of 30 million in 8 years. This will happen because the population is growing at the rate of 3% annually. But what is most unfortunate is that these 30 million will be extremely poor people requiring to be fed, housed, and educated. Contrary to the increase in population, the landmass of Pakistan remains the same. This increase might bring disastrous effects to the economy of Pakistan and might add to the miseries of the people.
The government should take a serious note of the problem. It should also do its best to control the average birth rate in the country. The citizens of the country should cooperate with the government in bringing down the birth rate.
