Despite press coverage to the contrary, residents are generally content with the influx of immigrants to the area. Some go so far as to say it has brought more benefits than problems. Many newcomers have established small businesses, such as hairdressers, local shops and cafés—facilities which would otherwise be lacking. I, myself, have spent some time visiting the area and am pleased to report that integration seems to have occurred fairly seamlessly. People forget that this has hitherto been a largely working-class area with an ageing population. Many of the younger generation have moved out to areas where there is more work. So, for the older residents, seeing children playing in the parks and youngsters kicking footballs around the recreation areas has been heartening.
