In almost every group of humans in known and recorded history, they have been members who have changed their bodies. The reasons behind the choices vary even within a single society. In many cultures around the world, the changes represent a person's social status and wealth and are often associated with jwellery for example the piercings. Lots of people think this is a new fashion but actually there are records that telus piercings existed in the Middle East four thousand years ago and it's been popular in India since the sixteenth century. There is sometimes deeper meanings behind changes, such as on scars and tattoos, in certain African cultures for instance, scars made on the face and body are a symbol of adult hood and courage, and of course in almost every culture today people make changes in order to look better. Plastic surgery is a good example of that so, in fact what all of these things really represent is a desire to reach a level of human perfection within our culture.
