Instructions
Now, there's lots of studies. So, there's a centre in Berkeley called the Centre for Greater Good, which you could look up. And they have lots and lots of studies that they collect and report on topics like altruism and empathy; and also at Stanford, there's a centre for studies of, I think it's called compassion and altruism, I think is the is the acronym for the Centre Stanford, which again they conduct lots of research and are looking into the neurobiology of it, there are certain areas of the brain that seem to be activated with empathetic practises like loving, kindness, meditation for example, an area called the posterior cingulate cortex, which is responsible for emotional memory retrieval and other things; and that's one area that's been shown to enlarge with either, forgiveness, medication or mindfulness meditation; and very interestingly, it also enlarges with weight lifting exercise in our studies. So, not sure why weightlifting makes you enlarge the same part of your brain that makes that is enlarged with empathy. But it does so there are there are other studies looking at, functional MRS to look at the connectedness between different areas of the brain. So there are lots and lots of studies looking at the neurobiology; and there are also people looking at neuroendocrinology, so looking at changes in stress hormones in particular that seem to be different in people who are expressing traits of altruism and empathy compared to people who don't. So, they have different stressor responses too.

Which two institutions conduct research on topics like altruism, empathy, compassion, and their connection to the human brain?
