Voice all these stories about obesity, and we're not asking obese people to talk about obesity, just as we do not ask homeless people to talk about homelessness in news stories. Not every news story about homelessness lacks a homeless person's voice, but many-many do. So, in UTS funded study of media images of obesity, Phillip Mills and I demonstrated that overweight and obese people are much more likely to be portrait without their heads or their faces than healthy weight people. This is another way of excluding fat people from the in-Group, us. The exception is the biggest loser, where which allows a very large people to tell their own stories. Although, we also found that presenters and trainers were more likely to have their quotations present in an episode of the biggest loser than the voices of the contestants.
