Instructions
Yeah, I think there's some serious issues with the US electoral system, and folks have been trying to figure out how to crack that for a while. But one of the biggest issues is that we only have a two-party system. We don't. And the presidential election is different to the congressional election and the role of the President is different to the role of the Congress, and there are curbs on the power of the Presidency. So, it's a multi-layered and complicated system, isn't it?
And the state is different than the federal; and the local is different than state. So yeah, part of the work is many people over the last, I would say decade has have been challenging the two-party system duopoly and we saw a bit of a resurgence of the Green Party. But I would, I would argue that the Green Party didn't do the best job at reaching out to communities of colour. Poor communities and part of the work over the last, I would say three to four years is black people, particularly, trying to figure out do we abandon both parties? And do we figure out building our own and that obviously takes an incredible amount of resources. You know, elections cost millions of dollars in the states. And so, there's this drive and need for us to figure out how do we deal with the electoral system. And many people have ideas about it. But there's no one solution around it.
