Raising children in the modern era occurs amid rapid technological change, economic uncertainty, and shifting social expectations. Compared with earlier generations, parents today face a broader and more complex set of responsibilities. I strongly agree that bringing up children in the twenty-first century is more difficult than it was in the past, despite the existence of some modern conveniences.

The most significant challenge is the pervasive influence of digital technology on childhood development. Parents must regulate screen time, protect online safety, and manage constant exposure to social media and pressures that were largely absent previously. Excessive smartphone use can damage concentration, sleep, and emotional wellbeing, requiring sustained supervision and guidance and substantially increasing parental stress.

Another major difficulty arises from heightened economic and educational demands. Rising housing costs, insecure employment, and competitive schooling systems force families to invest greater financial resources and emotional energy. While previous generations also faced hardship, career pathways were often clearer and expectations more stable, whereas parents today must prepare children for uncertain labour markets and costly academilabour markets and costly academic competition.

In conclusion, parenting in the twenty-first century requires navigating digital risks and economic instability alongside traditional caregiving duties. Although advances in healthcare and education offer genuine benefits, they also intensify expectations and complexity. Overall, raising children today is more challenging than in earlier periods.
