The belief that individuals should keep trying to pursue their goals regardless of circumstances is widely promoted as a source of motivation. To a large extent I agree with this view rather than disagree, because perseverance in pursuing our goals often enables real progress and achievement, although effort must be guided by reflection rather than blind endurance.

Firstly, sustained effort is essential because meaningful goals usually involve repeated failure and delayed rewards. Skills, careers and academic aims develop through the consistent effort of pursuing daily practice, not immediate results. Moreover, from my own experience of pursuing demanding language examinations, early setbacks highlighted weaknesses rather than signalled the defeat of my goals. Consequently, by continuing to practise and adjusting my strategies, I saw how perseverance transforms obstacles into learning and moves a person closer to any target. Indeed, this steady effort towards a clear objective builds the long-term competence and productivity that no single burst of enthusiasm or recognition can deliver. In a company, the same perseverance turns collaboration between an employer and staff into the successful completion of a shared goal and project.

However, perseverance in pursuing a goal should not mean ignoring reality, because there are moments when reassessing an objective is wiser than blind persistence. For example, if a chosen career aim proves incompatible with health or ethical values, adapting the goal can prevent frustration and burnout. Admittedly, effort here remains valuable, yet it should be redirected towards more suitable objectives instead of one rigid target. Therefore, flexible perseverance ensures that our effort in pursuing a goal stays purposeful rather than becoming destructive over time.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that people should keep trying to achieve their aims, since perseverance in pursuing worthy goals fosters resilience, learning and eventual success when effort is guided by self-awareness.
