Many people argue that air flights have a great impact on the environment, and I largely agree that air travel harms nature even though this impact must be judged in relative terms.

Firstly, the primary reason air flights damage the environment is the high level of carbon emissions each plane produces per passenger. Moreover, aircraft burn vast quantities of fossil fuel at high altitude, and this intensifies the warming effect that flights impose on the natural environment. For example, a single intercontinental flight can generate more emissions per person than months of commuting, making air travel particularly harmful to nature. In addition, when many individuals choose frequent flights over greener alternatives, the cumulative pressure that people place on the environment grows sharply.

However, some people argue that aviation accounts for only a small share of the emissions that humans release into the environment. Admittedly, air travel also delivers real economic and social benefits, so flights cannot simply be condemned by every individual. Nevertheless, these benefits do not cancel out the environmental damage, especially when frequent flying is concentrated among wealthier people who fly for convenience. Furthermore, cleaner alternatives to flights already exist for short journeys, yet many individuals still take a plane rather than protect the environment. Consequently, governments could invest public funding in better transport so that people limit, reduce, or prevent unnecessary air travel and its harm to nature. Therefore, air flights do exert a substantial impact on the environment, mainly through the carbon emissions of each plane and inefficient fuel use.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that reducing needless air travel is an important step for people who wish to protect the environment and preserve nature.
