Each colour is one skill. Tap a colour to hide it. Tap it again to show it.

Different people succeed in different fields, and they pursue success through contrasting lifestyles. While some equate achievement with extended working hours and higher money, others prioritise free time and personal fulfilment. In my opinion, I align more closely with the latter view, believing that allocating free time for meaningful leisure produces more sustainable success.

Firstly, excessive working hours often undermine health and long-term productivity at work. For example, chronic fatigue reduces the concentration and creativity that most people need to succeed in any field. Moreover, professionals who protect their free time and maintain balanced schedules tend to perform consistently and avoid burnout at work. Consequently, by preserving leisure time, people keep the energy required to sustain success over many years.

Admittedly, working long hours can accelerate money and recognition, especially in competitive careers. However, success measured solely by money is narrow and fragile for most people. Furthermore, when personal relationships and hobbies are neglected for work, motivation frequently declines and career satisfaction fades. Indeed, a lifestyle that values free time supports broader measures of success, including satisfaction and resilience and balanced personal growth. In particular, meaningful leisure gives people the perspective to define achievement on their own terms rather than by income alone.

In conclusion, although intensive work can deliver short-term gains, I believe prioritising free time aligns more closely with enduring success. Ultimately, leisure protects wellbeing and sustains performance and enriches life beyond money. Therefore, a balanced lifestyle that favours meaningful free time offers people a more convincing path to genuine achievement in any career.
