But what if we start digitally? No printing costs, just a simple website to host our first few issues. That gives us time to work on funding through advertising maybe local cafes or campus services would be willing to sponsor a column or banner space. Ryan (Student) A digital trial would definitely make it easier to test the waters. If we set clear editorial policies from the beginninglike a student code of ethics and content review process we can show readers and faculty that we're serious about quality and neutrality. Holly (Student) And while we're at it, we should talk to someone from the communications department. Faculty oversight doesn't have to be strict, but having a professor mentor the project might help us with credibility, especially when approaching potential advertisers or when disputes come up. Liam (Student) Agreed. I'll also start putting together a recruitment drive writers, editors, designers. We need a committed team to pull this off. Maybe we can run a short application form and promote it during lectures or through the student union's social media pages. Ryan (Student) We'll need roles defined early section editors, layout leads, fact-checkers. That structure will keep things professional. After the first two digital issues, we can ask for feedback and readership stats, then decide if it's worth continuing or even expanding to print. Holly (Student) Sounds good to me. Let's move forward with a digital trial edition. I'll look into cost estimates for eventual printing and prepare a pitch for advertising and faculty support. If the response is strong, we'll have a much better case for taking it further.
