Coping with Burnout
Transcript:
Meera: I don't know how much longer I can keep going. I'm behind on everything, barely sleeping, and I just feel, numb. I've been seriously thinking about dropping out.
Zara: I'm so sorry, Meera. You've been under a lot of pressure. Burnout is real and it's nothing to be ashamed of.
Iman: You've been juggling so much. It's completely okay to feel exhausted. But maybe it's time to pause and reevaluate before making any big decisions.
Meera: I just feel like I'm failing. Everyone around me is doing fine, and I'm falling apart.
Zara: You're not failing. You're just overwhelmed. There's a huge difference. Have you thought about speaking with a counselor?
Iman: Even reducing your course load or taking a short break could help. And if you want, we can go with you to talk to someone on campus.
Meera: I've been scared to ask for help. Like it means I'm not strong enough.
Zara: It actually takes strength to reach out. You deserve support, Meera.
Iman: And no matter what path you choose we'll be right here. You don't have to carry this alone.
Meera: Thank you. I honestly feel a little more hopeful just talking about it.
Zara: I'm really glad you said that, Meera. Just opening up like this shows you want to get better, and that’s the first step.
Iman: Exactly. You've been pushing yourself nonstop anyone would feel drained in your place. Maybe this weekend, you could completely disconnect, even for a day. No studying, no guilt just rest.
Meera: I can't remember the last time I actually relaxed without feeling anxious about what I should be doing.
Zara: Then that's a sign your mind needs space to breathe. You can't pour from an empty cup.
Iman: And remember, taking care of yourself isn't giving up on your goals its what will keep you going. Maybe start with one small change, like setting a bedtime or journaling how you feel each night.
Meera: That sounds… doable. I think I've been trying to fix everything at once, which just made it worse.
Zara: One thing at a time. We'll help you through it you're not alone in this, okay?
Meera: Okay. Thank you, both of you. I feel like maybe I can breathe again.
