Venus flytrap
Dionaea muscipula, more commonly known as the Venus flytrap, is a carnivorous plant native to subtropical wetlands of the United States. The leaves of the plant are covered in stiff hairs that sense when an insect has touched them, triggering the leaves to snap shut. Tiny hairs, or cilia, around the leaves lace together to form a seal that traps the victim inside, where it can be slowly digested over a number of days.
