Sushi
Sushi the Japanese dish is made of cooked vinegared rice, raw seafood, vegetables, and tropical fruits. Except for rice (brown or white), other ingredients can vary according to the need of the client. Sushi is often served with pickled ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. The original type of sushi, known today as Narezushi was first made in Southeast Asia. Narezushi the oldest form of sushi in Japan is still prepared by wrapping fish in soured fermenting rice, which enables the fish proteins to break down into their constituent amino acids. The fermented rice is discarded and fish is consumed. Sushi is commonly eaten with soy sauce condiments and flavored with wasabi, a piquant paste made from the grated root of the Wasabia Japonica plant. In Japan sushi is served with green tea which is known as Agari in sushi vocabulary. Sushi may be garnished to look like flowers with thinly sliced vegetables, carrots, radishes, cucumbers, and seaweed salad. Sushi is served on a wooden platter at a sushi restaurant in Kanagawa Prefecture and eaten with the fingers.
