Our recent listener survey asked whether children today are watching more or less TV than they did in previous decades. Overwhelmingly, the response was that they are watching less—over 80 per cent of you thought so. But we've had a number of listeners write in and ask whether the question was clear enough. Karen from Brighton says that her son spends less time watching television than she and her husband do, but will watch YouTube videos on his computer for hours. And Sam from Bristol wonders if streaming content on a tablet counts as watching television; if so, then he thinks that kids are watching a lot more than he did at their age. These are good points. What is TV these days? Is it sitting on the sofa in front of the flat screen hung on the wall, or is it looking at any screen that shows moving pictures?
