Practice Listening: Multiple Choice, Single Answer ID: #44209 Medium European diet
Instructions
Around that question about the uses of gluten-free diets, because they are very popular; and I think it's just important to point out a couple of things about that is that gluten is a a protein that's found in wheat, rye and barley, which is very diverse and common in the Western diet and parts of the European diet. And there are medical indications for its exclusion, as in celiac disease, a skin disease called dermatitis apada formus and another disease of the neurological system called gluten ataxia. But outside of those exclusions, or of gluten, the evidence is much less to support that it is of benefit to help; and often people, that go on gluten-free diets, find themselves in the health food aisle of the supermarket, buying highly processed white, gluten-free foods that are very high in sugar and inappropriate fats, as more unhealthy fats. So, inadvertently, people may be adopting a more unhealthy diet through going on a gluten-free diet.

What is the primary concern regarding the adoption of gluten-free diets by individuals without specific medical indications?
