It was the presence of these animals that first barked the idea of a San Diego Zoo, a collection leftover from the 1916 World's Fair. The animals faced an uncertain future until the roar of a lion captured the attention and the imagination of a passing motorist, Dr. Harry Webform, going downtown. He was with his brother's father, my dad commented. He said somebody ought to start a zoo and Paul said, why don't. And that was the gist of it. And start a zoo. He did. Doctor Harry recognised today as one of The Pioneers of the modern zoos in America, formed what is now the largest non-profit Zoological Society in the world. And the zoological park that continues to enchant millions of visitors every year.
