In 33 1/2 hours across the Atlantic to Paris. Back in New York City, he received a hero's welcome with a ticker tape parade up Broadway and a Medal of Valour from New York Governor Al Smith for becoming the first to fly solo across the Atlantic. Charles Lindbergh became one of the most famous Americans of all time.
