The Titanic, queen of the Seas. It was the ship they called indestructible. On a moonless night during her maiden voyage in 1912, the Titanic hit an iceberg and went down. The icy ocean became a graveyard for 1500 passengers and crew. In 1985, the submersible sled Argo was lowered into the ocean carrying an underwater camera. Finally, after a 16-day search, oceanographer Robert Ballard and his colleagues spotted something 2 1/2 miles below the surface. It was the first glimpse of the Titanic in nearly 75 years.
