Unlike the northern neighbours, the James Bay crew, that they can make, have never signed any treaty with the federal and the provincial states, which means that they have never ceded, sold or surrounded their territories, or agreed to extinguish their titles over the extent of their traditional land. However, since the early part of the 20th century, their territories have been depleted and transformed by non-indigenous activities, such as extensive logging, construction of dams, abusive, sport-hunting and fishing, resort lease is among others. Nevertheless, over the extent of their ancestral territory, the article may continue to claim and put into practise their own jurisdiction and Land Turner system, their own law. And to go occupy, the irregular and uneven basis, their family territories through hunting, fishing and gathering activities. A form, affirming the ongoing presents and claims to the forest land, must be stressed also that they continue to feel responsible towards the parts of the forest land which have been completely depleted by forest activities and the construction of dams. It is for them, and it will always be their land, and it is there that their ancestors reside.
