The Boeing 747-400 is the largest airliner in the world, and the latest version of the famed Jumbo jet that first flew on February 9th, 1969. Since then, its passenger capacity has almost doubled so that the latest model can hold up to 660 passengers. The first 747-400 entered service with Northwest Airlines on January 26th, 1989. With a wingspan of 213 feet and a total length of 231 feet and 10 inches, better than 2/3 the length of a (football field).
