Berlin Wall
Transcript:
Before the Berlin Wall was built in 1961, as many as 1000 people a day emigrated from East Germany to escape communist rule and seek a better standard of living in the West. The East German government built the Berlin Wall to stop this tremendous drain of its people, many of whom were from its educated and professional classes. Berlin quickly became a divided city, first with barbed wire and then with massive (stone walls).
