The dermis
Transcript:
The dermis supports and strengthens the epidermis seen in cross section. The border between the epidermis and the dermis looks like a range of mountains and valleys. These ridges, called papillae, help prevent the two layers from sliding across each other or separating. Generally, the dermis is thicker than the epidermis. The dermis, which supports and maintains many other structures, contains blood and lymph vessels, hair follicles, and ( nerves).
