Transcript:
The purpose of adverts is to create a brand name that people will recognise and associate with certain qualities. For decades, advertisers have claimed that their products are fresh, luxurious or natural. Part of the reason is that these positive associations might influence more people to buy their product. Often it's just there to persuade them to pay more for that particular brand for another. For example, companies producing luxury products might put an advert in the newspaper knowing that the majority of the readers of that paper are unlikely to be able to afford their products. But for a luxury brand, it's important that everyone knows the brand name and understands that only the rich and successful people own this products. That way when someone buys Bag or jacket with that company's name on it, they know other people will recognise it as expensive. And that's what makes it worth paying more for.
