Karl Marx is arguably the most of the most famous political philosopher of all time. During his 11 years writing for the New York Tribune - their collaboration began in 1852 - Marx tackled an abundance of topics, from issues of class and the state to world affairs.
In this landmark account, first published over twenty years ago, the author argues that the ignorance and lethargy of the poor are the direct result of the whole situation of economic, social and political domination.
Historically, the low level of political autonomy of the cities in China is partly a result of the early development of the state bureaucracy. The bureaucrats played a major role in the growth of urbanisation, but were also able to control its subsequent.
Welfare has a special political meaning to the United States; it refers to how the poor receive financial aid. In comparison, welfare services are regarded as a universal right in other regions like Europe, where it is believed that all citizens should be able to obtain a minimal level of social support and well-being.
