Nordic countries
There are social psychologists who concluded that some countries are happier than others, based on collected data and surveys. A recent investigation suggests that Denmark is the most satisfied nation in the world, closely followed by other Nordic countries like Finland and Norway and Holland. Even the United Nations prepares annual report called the World Happiness Report, which in its second release also ranked the Nordic regions of the Old Continent as the happiest, while the United States, Egypt, and Greece turned out to be more disappointed than in the past. It is important to notice that the nations mentioned first are also the healthiest and wealthiest, and the ones that provide their citizens with a good level of education. The system their governments run seems to manage a pretty well-balanced relationship with its citizens. Thus, even though the population pays more taxes than in other places, they are rewarded with other benefits, e.g. shorter workweeks and more vacation time. Another fact that has caught the attention of experts is that happy countries are usually smaller than not so happy countries. Such is the case of Bhutan, a very small country between China and India, where happiness is actually a part of government policy: besides measuring GNP (Gross National Product), they measure GNH (Gross National Happiness).
