First of all, there's a lot of effects of climate change in the seas. We're seeing sea level rise, changes in our fresh water flow and storm activity. We're seeing ocean acidification, but probably the main stressor that I'll be talking about today, because it is one of the more pervasive and one of the more immediate is the increases in ocean temperature that we are seeing. So, it's getting hotter. That's probably not a surprise to most people in the room. When you look at the lots of ways of looking at this sort of stuff, there's just a few examples of temporal series of global average air temperatures as well as this cool diagram showing you month by month how things are changing, and if nothing changed, we wouldn't be able to see anything. On that graph. And you can certainly see the rapid acceleration of warming, especially since the late 90s and early 2000s. So, it's getting warmer and some weird stuff is happening. Weird in a lot of contexts and important in a lot of contexts, and these are just a few examples. So, we're seeing mangroves replacing Salt Marsh all around the world. Which is in fact changing local rates of carbon sequestration, which is obviously a pretty important topic for us now when we've got lots of carbon dioxide that we're trying to figure out what we're going to do with, we've got crabs invading the continental shelves of the Antarctic and having a pretty good way with endemic species whose aren't adapted to these sort of crushing predator.
