The two maps illustrate the changes that took place around Tilden International Airport between 1985 and 2015. Overall, the area experienced significant urban development, with improvements in transportation infrastructure and the replacement of agricultural and industrial land by commercial and residential facilities. In 1985, the airport area contained both an international terminal and a domestic terminal located near the river on the western side. To the north-east, there was Johnson’s Farm, while several factories occupied the south-eastern section. A car park and airport support services were situated close to the terminals, and a road connected the airport to the City of Tilden, located 8 kilometres away. By 2015, major transformations had occurred. Johnson’s Farm had been replaced by a business park and a housing estate, indicating rapid commercial and residential growth. Most factories were removed, and a hotel and conference centre was constructed in the south-east. Transportation facilities were also upgraded considerably. A runway was added diagonally across the northern part of the map, and a light rail system with a bus and rail station was introduced to improve connectivity. Despite these developments, the international and domestic terminals, as well as the car park and airport support services, remained in their original positions.
