You know there's nothing more important than you can be as a healthcare provider than to have empathy. There's nothing more important. But keeping that over the lifespan of your career is sometimes a challenge.
I don't want to go off topic, but is this also partly the compartmentalization of health as clinicians and? The terminant!
I think so. I mean, it's hard that it's so broad. Now the knowledge we have that it's hard to be good at everything. I mean, I'm a geriatrician, and so we're supposed to be kind of good at everything. But most people are, you know, organ system physicians. And so you learn about the kidney in great depth. That you really don't remember the heart very much. So, it's very hard to be good and have in depth knowledge of everything. And so there is a tendency to kind of compartmentalise, how you view the person and how you view the body, but it's always to your benefit to you obviously look at that kidney is living in a body, that's living in a family, that's living in a community. That's the only way you can really help people.
