Approaching cosmological and ontological differences seriously implies suspending the parading of universalism which has proved itself a most effective tool in the neutralisation of the thought and cosmologies of others. There is no need here to deepen further this controversy. No doubt this debate between two prominent figures of the discipline raises measure question not only about cultural and ontological differences, but also about how we are, as anthropologists, to take seriously what the others say about the world, about other ways of being knowing and relating to the world. Another point at which I wish to make here is that, as anthropologists, we should never lose sight of what are considered as one of our main responsibilities, and that is understand and translate.
