Phenomenon being more than the inevitable outcome of the right is a collapse in confidence in the ruling class and when there's a collapse in confidence in the ruling class, people are going to turn to the extreme ; and in some cases that can be an opportunity, which is why you see far more left wing candidates than ever before being successful. Why someone like Jeremy Corbyn can stand up and say the same stuff that he's been saying for decades and suddenly find an audience of really energised people, especially young people who are worried about their future. But it can also drive people into the arms of right-wing extremists as well, who are running not as guardians of conventional conservative construction dogma, but is people who are railing against elites generally, and they're going to find that audience with people who, for good reason, hate all elites, and that's what I think is most concerning.
