I feel like it's you can't really escape identity politics; and there is a white identity as well.
Absolutely! When you are the culture, the undercurrents of your society is based on alienating or privileging some. I think that, you know, often I remember watching this video that talked about really how the landscape of American population has really changed away from the white heterosexual. Christian family unit and now everyone else. The others are starting to actually gain the population and becoming the majority, and I think that you know, whether you're black, whether you're queer, whether you're in the margins, you are migrants. I think that there are so many aspects of people's identities in America that they can't escape that you know the realities that they really can't just leave at the door. And that means when you're going to the ballot box, that means when you're talking about issues, that means when you're engaging in community politics or electoral politics, they come with you. You know, I think that when I think about the US, there's so many incredible ways that the culture or the politics or the policies create that sort of division, create that concept of frustrate versus queer creates that black versus white. And part of that is once again, once the playing fields are created in a particular way. You have to engage with it the way that it's curated.
