Some of the research I found is that we're degrading our water fresh water supply, our topsoil. We're very much reliant on fossil fuels, transport, pesticides and fertilisers. And in our urban cities, you know, we're seeing all this urban growth and all this urban sprawl. And what we're doing is we're paving over a lot of our prime arable land and where our periurban farms are and our local food supply. So, what we're doing is we're pushing it further and further away from our city centres. And as we do that, we're becoming more reliant on transport and if we think about why that's a problem, is what would happen if these transport routes got blocked? What happens when we start having floods and bushfires, and even if we have issues to do with an oil crisis or fuel for the trucks to come in. Our food supply is going to get cut off and there was actually some research done in Sydney city particularly; and they estimated that if our transport routes got cut off, Sydney City would have two days left of consumption before we completely ran out of food. So, it's really important that we are start to grow food in our city to build a more resilient city.
