Transcript:
Can you remember being a teenager? Did you find yourself going to bed later and later every night, and then struggling to get up in the morning. Well that's a common experience. But one that for some people maybe because of weight gain. Most teenagers should get nine hours of sleep a night; however, many get less than eight. A number of studies have shown that this amount of sleep can lead to greater consumption of foods that are high in fat and sugar. And there is an inevitable consequence of this: an increase in weight.
An example of these studies is one that was carried out by Susan Redline. She followed 240 teenagers in the USA and found that those who slept less than eight hours a night had on average 2.2% more fat in their daily food intake. So, if you want to keep your weight under control, I don't think you'll be staying up too late studying for your exams now.
