Practice Reading: Fill in the Blanks (Dropdown) ID: #52188 As April's sun
Instructions
As  April's  sun  and  showers  coax  forth  the  red  maple's  leaves,  they  unveil  a    of  tints  both  captivating  and  unexpected.  Gone  are  the  stark  reds  of  winter;  instead,  a  medley  of  soft  yellows,  bronzes,  and  apricots  emerges,  adorning  each  baby  leaflet  in  a  shiny,  crinkly  charm.  One  cannot  help  but  draw  parallels  to  the  more    and  aristocratic  Japanese  maples,  yet  a  pang  of  regret  strikes  as  these  vibrant  hues  inevitably  mellow  into  sedate  green.  However,  Autumn  offers  a  vibrant  encore.  Bathed  in  scarlet  radiance,  the  red  maple's  leaves  illuminate  the  countryside,  weaving  a  brilliant  thread  into  the  most  exquisite  of  carpets  -  the  autumn  foliage.  Indeed,  amidst  the  joyous  symphony  of  fall,  few  walks  compare  to  shuffling  through  this  oriental  richness  of  hue  blanketing  the  forest  floor.  While  the  red  maple  reigns  in  Autumn,  Spring  finds  the  Norway  maple,  familiar  resident  of  Eastern  city  streets,  erupting  in  a    yet  breathtaking  bloom.  To  the  casual  observer,  this  soft  haze  of  greenish-yellow  might  appear  as  budding  leaves.  However,  a  closer  look  reveals  a  captivating  spectacle  -  a  galaxy  of  many-rayed  stars,  each  exuding  a  subtle,  spicy    that  intensifies  when  flere  trees  bloom  in  unison.  Unlike  the  bold  contrasts  of  many  blooms,  the  Norway  maple's  charm  lies  in  subtlety.  Delicate  tints  and  tones  meld  in  a  harmonious  dance,  further  accentuated  by  the  sculpted  beauty  of  the  flower  itself.  This  floral  display  enjoys  remarkable  longevity,  persisting  until  the  first  verdant  leaves  begin  to  peek  through,  creating  a  mesmerizing  fusion  of  verdant  green  and  golden-green  that  often  goes  unnoticed  by  the  unobservant  eye.  It  is  this  very  oversight  that  compels  me  to  share  this  hidden  wonder,  hoping  that  some  of  my  readers  might  be  enticed  to  seek  out  this    and  utterly  beautiful  floral  treasure  that  graces  the  early  spring.
