Winston    Churchill    first    entered    the    British    parliament    in    1900.    He    held    many    important    government    positions,    in    Liberal    and    Conservative    administrations.    After    office    in    1929,    he    watched    the    growth    of    Nazi    Germany    with    alarm,    but    his    warn    ings    of    war    were    generally  .  After    Britain's    entry    into    World    War    II,    he    rejoined    the    govern    ment    and    became    pri    me    minister    in    1940.    With    inspiring    speeches    and    personal    courage,    Churchill    led    Britain    the    very    difficult    war    years    to    victory.    Churchill    also    wrote    many    fine    history    books,    and    he    was    the    Nobel    Prize    for    literature    in    1953.
