Practice Reading: Fill in the Blanks (Dropdown) ID: #4476 Climate change 3
Instructions
Some  sceptics  continue  to  refute  the    of  climate  change,  but  the  evidence  is  increasingly  indisputable.  Glaciers  have  shrunk  in  size,  and  sea  levels  are  rising.  In  many  countries,  heat  waves  are  becoming    frequent  and  longer,  and  there  has  been  an  increase  in  the  number  of  hurricanes  worldwide.  As  temperatures  are  predicted  to    rising  for  many  decades  to  come,  changes  in  the  environment  are  likely  to  become  more  pronounced.  It  is  important  to  consider,  ,  whether  such  climatic  changes  are  always  harmful.  Indeed,  some  beneficial  effects  can  be  observed:  crops  grow  better  in  certain  regions  if  there  are  longer  periods  without  frost,  and  some  populations  might  succeed  in  adapting  to  their  changed  environment  and  even    advantage  of  it.  Scientists  tend  to  agree,  nevertheless,  that  the  negative  effects  of  climate  change  outweigh  any  potentially  positive  ones.
