The German nation has been through some decidedly turbulent history since it’s in 1871. It is a history that has resulted in some long-held resentments that even now still the nation. German industrial production was put on a war but the war effort also lead to suffering amongst the German civillian population and three quarters of a million died from malnutrition during the war. The shame of defeat and the measures imposed on the country by the Treaty of Versailles are blamed for the subsequent economic collapse of the country, the rise in German nationalism and the advent of the Nazi era; with all the disastrous consequences the dictatorship would have worldwide, the results of which continue to haunnt the country to this day.
