For somebody who has never had the dubious of working in a factory, it is nearly impossible to explain the boredom and monotony that such toil . For stretches of eight hours at a time, one stands in a particular spot and does the same thing over and over again. Perhaps it is your assigned job to tighten a bolt, or maybe it to you to ensure that the label is on straight on one of the infinite number of bottles that pass by your station on the way to the packaging room. Whatever the case may be, such are little more than plain drudgery. The noise level is such that it is pointless attempting to engage your fellow in any type of conversation.
