Practice Reading: Fill in the Blanks (Dropdown) ID: #36659 Critical reading
Instructions
Critical  reading  provides  a  more  academic  way  of  considering  a  text.  It  is  very  different  from  reading  for  pleasure.  The  process  of  critical  reading  enables  students  to  become  more  able  to  analyse  and  evaluate  any  narrative,  information  or  evidence  they  read  in  order  to    whether  the  source  is  suitable  for  a  particular  academic  purpose.
As  a  critical  reader,  it  is    to  put  yourself  in  the  shoes  of  the  author,  considering  their  background  and  social  standing,  as  well  as  the  historical  and  societal  context  in  which  the  text  was  written.    doing  this,  you  should  get  a  clearer  understanding  of  the  authors  position,  meaning  the  authors  main  ideas  on  the  subject  they  are  writing  about.  Evidently,  then,  the  critical  reader  has  to    a  wide  variety  of  information  in  order  to  get  a  more  informed  understanding  of  the  text.
