Practice Reading: Fill in the Blanks (Dropdown) ID: #36658 Steep learning curve
Instructions
Many  students  experience  the  first  year  of  university  as  a  steep  learning  curve.  One  skill  thats  essential  for  a  student  to  acquire  as  soon  as  possible  is  the  somewhat  undervalued  art  of  note  taking,  a  vital  tool  at  all  stages  throughout  an  academic  journey.
The  principal  benefit  of  note  taking  is  that  it  enhances  a  persons  engagement  with  a  subject.  It  also  strengthens  cognitive  skills,  as  the  brain  constantly  assesses  whether  or  not  information  is    being  written  down.  The  fact  that  the  notes  taken  by  an  individual  are  subjective,  or  personalised,  also  means  the  brain  may  find    easier  to  revisit  and  make  sense  of  at  a  later  date.
Undoubtedly,  the  careful  storage  and  categorisation  of  notes  does  require  a  degree  of  diligence.  However,  students  who  take  time  over  this    when  they  need  to  refer  back  to  specific  lectures  to  write  an  essay  or  to  revise  for  an  exam.
The  numerous  benefits  of  note  taking    it  being  ranked  highest  in  a  students  repertoire  of  study  skills.
