CELPIP Practice Reading: Reading Correspondence ID: #62920 Medium A Quieter Rehearsal

Read the following message.

Hi Tomas,

The library coordinator called about our choir rehearsal on Thursday. A citizenship class has been moved into the room beside ours because its usual room has a leaking ceiling. Our booking still stands, but the folding wall between the rooms does not block much sound.

She suggested that we begin with the section rehearsals we normally do at the end. The altos could use the reading corner while you work with the tenors in the booked room. By the time we bring everyone together, the class should be doing its quiet written exercise. This seems more considerate than singing at full volume as soon as we arrive.

I support the change, although the reading corner has no piano. Could you send the altos the starting notes on your phone before Thursday? They can practise the entrances without accompaniment, and I will bring the printed scores. Please describe this as a change in order, not a shorter rehearsal. I do not want anyone to assume the final group practice has been cancelled.

If the class runs late, the coordinator will let us use the small hall for the final section. It is farther from the entrance, so I will put a sign on our usual door only if we actually move. Could you arrive ten minutes early to help explain the plan?

Thanks,
Asha

Hi Asha,

I can arrive early and will send the starting notes tonight. The altos will then have what they need to practise their 7.

I agree that changing the sequence is the most respectful approach. Starting separately should keep our volume lower while the class 8.
. We can still combine the choir later, so I will make clear that no rehearsal time has 9.

I will also tell everyone to check the usual door for directions. Since the sign is needed only if we use the small hall, there is no point in 10.
. If we do move, the extra walk from the entrance may surprise people who arrive late.

Thanks for finding a plan that protects the class's concentration while letting our booking 11.
